The sun beating down upon the young woman who walked at a steady pace toward the only restaurant it the small village she called home. The owner and his daughter were nice to her though she still got many stares and glares from others of the village. Her arms, hands, feet and neck bandaged so that no one could what was under them. Tattoos! From a past that she was determined to not return to. Carrying three baskets full of crops which she grew on her own, she had no one to care for but herself yet she grew enough crops to give it away to anyone who needed it. As she came closer to the restaurant the sound of samurai causing a ruckus made her sigh heavily. It seemed that any time that samurai were in the village, nothing but trouble followed and she had done her best to avoid trouble but she couldn't deny that she missed the thrill of a fight.
As she entered the small food place, the noise grew louder. Her sharp blue eyes catching several samurai sitting and eating. There were some that were having an arm wrestling match and others that were arguing loud enough to wake the dead. A young woman in a pretty pink floral kimono came bounding up to her as she stood watching the men.
"Rose welcome, are you here to eat?" her cheerful voice came drawing the young bandaged woman back to her business at hand. "Hi Kimiko, no I'm not here to eat, but I came to drop off some food if you and your father need it." the bandaged woman said.
Kimiko smiled at Rose and led her to the kitchen at the back of the building. An older man was there cooking over a fire, he drew his attention away to look at the two young women.
"Well hello there Rose, what brings you here?" the man asked, he was the restaurant owner and a good man. "I'm here to drop off some of the crops that I grew." Rose stated with a faint smile. "Oh! That's great, we are actually in need of some crops." the restaurant owner boomed with a grin.
Rose gave the owner the crops she had brought and was heading out. Kimiko had already returned to her job to get orders. There was a loud scream which made the owner and Rose both run out into the dining area. Three samurai had Kimiko bent over the table a sword at her face and they each had a dangerous grin on their faces. Her's eyes narrowed as she saw the scene, her blood boiled and her natural instinct was to kill the men but she couldn't just do that, she wasn't the same as she used to be. The owner was about to step forward when Rose walked over to the three samurai without a second thought. When she came to the table the three samurai looked at her, they were still grinning.
"Why don't you boys let the girl go? I'll take your orders and maybe if you're good enough I'll join you." Rose said with a beaming smile.
The samurai couldn't stop staring at Rose and soon Kimiko was up and running to her father who held her tight. Rose took up the small parchment and wood pad that Kimiko had dropped by the table. The samurai gave Rose their orders and she walked over to Kimiko and gave her the wood pad. The young girl had tears streaming down her face, Rose patted the girl on her shoulder and gave her a bright smile, there was no need for words. The owner looked at Rose through a small window from the kitchen and gave her a nod. Kimiko went about her business and Rose waited by the kitchen door for the food.
The samurai watched Rose as she stood at the kitchen door. They were eager to have her join them. At the back of the dining area sat two cloaked figures who were watching the scene as it unfolded. These men gave off a dangerous atmosphere which made everyone avoid them. Kimiko came back with the food and as she handed it to Rose, the young girl looked at Rose with sorrow in her eyes that Rose had to be the one to deal with the samurai. Rose gave her friend a reassuring smile and took the food from her. Once at the table where the three samurai sat she placed the food out for them to eat. Just as she was about to sit down at the other end of the table, the samurai she was close to grabbed her wrist and pulled her next to him.
"You can't really join us if you move away miss." the man sneered as he looked down at the woman.
Rose gave him a bright smile and sat next to him. The men began to eat, Rose watched closely as they stuffed their faces with food, though the one that was close to her was trying to sneak his hand to Rose backside but the young woman was far more experienced then what these men thought. They had finished three dangos that they had ordered, the sticks laid close to Rose and as she reached for them with her right hand, she grabbed hold of the samurai's arm with her free hand and without any warning she slammed in onto the table and the cry of pain came from the man as a dango stick protruded from his hand and into the table. His free hand trying to pull his stabbed hand off the stick. The other two samurai reached for their swords but Rose was quicker.
The samurai across from Rose almost got his sword out when a delicate hand pushed the blade back into its sheath. He looked up from the hand to the clear blue eyes of the woman that had attacked his friend. A serious and murderous expression was on her face yet it was her eyes that made him freeze, her eyes were cold and blood thirsty the likes of which he had never seen before not in any human. With an effortless and smooth movement, Rose pushed the man back against one of the few posts in the restaurant that held the place up and then the blood churning scream of pain. The man looked down and saw a dango stick had went through his foot.
The man slid down the post and sat there past out from the sight of his own blood. The last man raised his blade at Rose and was about to strike her when she lifted her hand and touched his forehead. As she turned to look at the man, fear over took the man. A lethal look in her blue eyes had the man afraid to move, his sword fell from his hands as he backed up. Rose followed the man until he was against another post of the restaurant. He closed his eyes, knowing that pain was going to come yet there was nothing and though he was afraid, he opened his eyes slightly to see the woman standing there, a dead pan expression on her beautiful face.
"If you samurai cause anymore trouble today you won't like what happens." was all that Rose said as she turned to leave.
The man slid down the post like his friend but he wasn't going to let a woman show him up. Lucky for him, he had two swords and as he began to un-sheath his last sword, he looked at the woman's back only to see her staring back at him and the next sound anyone heard was a scream of unbarable pain. The last dango stick Rose still had, was now stuck in one of the man's eyes, he covered his wounded eye and screamed and withered in pain on the floor of the restaurant. Blood covered the man's hands from his wounded eye, the people of the restaurant stared at the scene in shock. None of the villagers had thought Rose could do something like this. Yet Rose had sensed the presence of those from her past.
"I don't give second chances." Rose said and then quickly left the restaurant.
The two dark figured watched the scene and weren't surprised at all. The samurai with the wounded eye got to his feet and snarled.
"I'll make that worthless woman pay for what she did. Mark my words!" he shouted, he gathered up his wounded friends and their weapons and left with his threat hanging over those that were still in the restaurant.

A loud painful scream came from the restaurant as a tall and handsome man was walking toward it. Just as he got close, a young raven haired woman appeared at the entrance, bandaged from head to toe. This man knew this woman well, it was Rose the only woman in the whole village who lived on her own and had no man to protect her. He wondered what had happened in the restaurant to make such a noise. Though as he looked at the young woman, he could see that something was troubling her because she had a serious expression on her face and that was rare to see even for him.
Did something happen to her?
